Describe the application first
Dingjiang supplies welded steel bar grating for applications including platforms, walkways, drainage covers, trenches and stair treads. The intended use determines the design information needed. A drainage cover and an access platform should not be selected solely by appearance or panel size.
Identify bearing bars and cross bars
Bearing bars carry load between supports. Their depth, thickness, spacing and direction are fundamental to the grating specification. Cross bars connect the bearing bars and help maintain the panel arrangement. Give both sets of dimensions and state whether spacing is measured centre-to-centre or as a clear opening.
Provide span and load information
Show the clear support span, bearing direction, support details and required load cases on the layout. Include concentrated loads, wheeled traffic or maintenance equipment where relevant. The project designer must check strength, deflection and supporting structure for the actual application. There is no universal load rating for “steel grating”.
Detail every panel
- Panel length and width, with bearing direction marked.
- Cut-outs, notches and removable access panels.
- Edge banding and any toe plates or stair-tread details.
- Surface type and opening requirements.
- Clips, fasteners and support connections.
Numbering panels on a layout reduces ambiguity when several similar pieces are ordered.
Finish, packing and installation
Hot-dip galvanised finishes are available in the published range. Agree the required coating specification and any cut-edge repair procedure. Confirm bundle weights, lifting arrangements and labels before shipment. Install panels in the designed bearing direction and secure them with the specified fixing arrangement.
