Scope of supply
We supply the complete barrier system as a matched kit: beams, posts, block spacers, fishplate splices, end terminals, reflective delineators and all fastenings. Kitting matters — a barrier assembled from mixed sources will not achieve its tested containment class.
Standards
Beams are rolled to AASHTO M180 (Class A, 3.0 mm, or Class B, 2.67 mm) and can be supplied to EN 1317 containment classes on request. Galvanising follows ISO 1461 with a minimum 610 g·m⁻² coating mass, verified by magnetic gauge and by the weighing method per batch.
Post spacing and containment
Post spacing is the lever that changes performance: 4.0 m spacing is standard for low-speed or low-angle roads, 2.0 m spacing is used where containment class rises. Thrie-beam is specified for higher containment and for bridge or median applications where deflection must be limited.
End terminals
Russell-type, buried-in-backslope and energy-absorbing terminals are available. Terminal choice should follow the road authority's standard drawings — send us the drawing and we will match it.
Logistics
Beams nest and bundle efficiently: a 40 ft HQ container typically loads 700–900 beams plus posts and hardware. We publish a container-loading plan with every quotation so freight can be budgeted accurately.
Where it is specified
Highways & expressways
Median and edge-of-carriageway restraint to the specified containment class.
Bridges & structures
Deck-edge systems with base-plated posts and transition details.
Industrial & ports
Internal roadways, dock edges and yard traffic separation.
Installation sequence
Set out
Mark post positions at 2.0 or 4.0 m spacing from the approved layout.
Posts
Drive or plant posts; check height, spacing and verticality.
Spacers
Fit spacers and washers so the beam sits at the correct rail height.
Beams
Hang beams lapping in the direction of traffic; bolt and torque in sequence.
Finish
Fit reflectors, end treatments and transitions; torque-check the run.
Packing & loading data
| Container | Beam length | Posts | Spacers | Gross weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20 ft GP | 2,500 m | 640 | 640 | ≈ 25 t |
| 40 ft GP | 5,200 m | 1,320 | 1,320 | ≈ 26 t |
| 40 ft HQ | 5,800 m | 1,470 | 1,470 | ≈ 26 t |
Planning figures for 3.0 mm W-beam with C 150 × 50 posts; thrie-beam reduces the metreage per container.
